Sabato
Redesign and consultancy for Belgium’s premier newspaper supplement.
Sabato is the weekly luxury magazine of Belgium’s leading business newspapers De Tijd and L’Echo. We were approached to redesign the magazine. Every Saturday, Sabato offers unique reports for some of Belgium’s most influential readers with a passion for design and quality. The magazine’s editorial team wanted a fresh look and a new perspective. We looked at all aspects of the magazine during the consultancy process. A new format, logotype, grids and typography system were devised. Alongside this we also re-appraised the approach to imagery in the magazine. Our studio supplied a robust yet flexible design system that will allow the in-house team to develop the design direction over the coming years
"Hunting’s editorial decisions were intelligently led by simplicity and space, creating a tone that is indeed luxurious but not excessive."
The Brand Identity Press
Cover System
As a weekend supplement to the newspaper's L'Echo and De Tijd, Sabato is the leading luxury magazine for Belgian audiences.
We wanted to create a iconic cover system that stood out from competitors. We utilised a distinctive dating system, that combines with the magazine's logotype and can move flexibly to different cover positions. The new system also helps subscribers to navigate quickly to the latest issue in their collection.
Special Issues
In addition to the weekly magazine redesign, our studio undertook the task of creating templates for Sabato's special issues, published eight times a year. These issues delve into a variety of topics, ranging from travel and interiors to luxury and beyond.
What sets them apart is their distinctive format: sharing the same trim size as the weekly magazine but perfect bound on the shorter edge. This unique layout not only distinguishes the special issues but also provides ample space to showcase stunning photography, elevating the visual experience for readers.
